Sukiyaki 🥩🥩
One of Japan's most iconic hot pots. Thinly sliced meat, tofu, and vegetables are simmered in a sweet and savory soy-based sauce.
**Ingredients (Serves 1–2)
・4–6 slices beef (or pork)
・1/2–1 bunch mizuna (Japanese mustard greens) or other leafy greens
・1/2 block yaki-tofu (grilled tofu)
・1 Japanese leek (negi), cut into chunks
・2 shiitake mushrooms
・50-100 g shirataki noodles (konjac noodles)
**Sukiyaki Sauce
・50 ml water
・50 ml soy sauce
・50 ml mirin
・1 tbsp sugar
**Method
・Cut all the ingredients into bite-sized pieces.
・Arrange the meat, tofu, vegetables, and mushrooms in a small pot.
・Combine the water, soy sauce, mirin, and sugar, then pour the sauce over the ingredients.
・Bring to a gentle simmer and cook until the meat is fully cooked and the vegetables are tender.
・Serve while hot and enjoy!
Optional: In Japan, sukiyaki is often enjoyed by dipping the cooked ingredients into a beaten raw egg before eating.
